Heartfelt and authentic songs in three languages. Real-life stories with a touch of romance. Soft sounds that make waves. Melodies that touch the heart. These are the keys to Annika Jayne's music.
Initially inspired by American folk music, she was also influenced by songs and chansons by German and French musicians. So it was only natural for Annika to express her feelings in these three languages.
In 2010, Annika released her first album, Fabulous Sceneries, featuring 12 songs in English and French that she has written over the years. The album was recorded and produced by Amin Jan Sayed at syemusic studio in Viernheim, Germany.
In August 2016 Annika participated in the Labos Chanson in Astaffort, a songwriting workshop organised by Voix Du Sud, the famous songwriting school of Francis Cabrel. There she had the opportunity to work on French chansons with Olivier Daguerre, Bastien Lanza and Davy Kilembe.
In 2020 Annika released her EP Time To Spread Your Wings, a collection of six songs, four of them folk songs, recorded at timebirdmusic in Sandhausen together with Daniel Deboy (The Late Call) and other musicians. The EP also contains two bonus tracks, Petite planète and Koffer (ne me regarde pas comme ça) together with the German folk band Tonstrahler.
Of course, the story doesn't end there! In April 2021, Annika released the Nostalgia EP, a collection of five songs she wrote between 1991 and 1995, followed by an unplugged album of the same songs recorded live with just one microphone.
At the end of 2021 her mini EP When Was The Last Time, her first single in German, Wunschzettel (wish list) and another single called Summer Morning were released. All these projects are the prelude and foretaste of two albums Annika is planning, Letter To A Friend and Fairies In Disguise. The two albums are closely related.
However, Annika is currently working on another album. In March 2022, Annika launched her Garden of Creation on Bandcamp - her subscription service where fans can support Annika and help her produce more music with a yearly contribution. In return, Annika shares her creative journey in the Garden of Creation and subscribers get access to subscriber-exclusive music. With the launch, Annika unexpectedly got a creative boost and wrote many, many songs. These, and other songs, will be released as an album called Cats & Coffee Cups, a purely acoustic album (just voice and guitar), mixed and mastered by Brady Jo. The release date is sometime in early 2024. Four songs from that album, Un livre et un café (A book and a coffee) Peace And Quiet , This Dream Inside My Heart and Café Of The Lost Dreams (And The New Horizons) have already been released.
In the meantime, you can listen to Annika's demo album In Moments Like These, which she wrote and recorded in May 2023 for the Album Writing Club initiated by the Lights & Lines label. The album is exclusively available on Bandcamp.

Anfänglich vom amerikanischen Folk inspiriert, prägten sie auch Lieder und Chansons deutscher und französischer Musiker. Es schien Annika daher nur natürlich, ihre Gefühle auch in diesen drei Sprachen zum Ausdruck zu bringen.

Derzeit arbeitet Annika jedoch an einem weiteren Album. Im März 2022 startete Annika ihren Garden of Creation auf Bandcamp - ein Abo-Service, mit dem Fans Annika unterstützen und ihr mit einem jährlichen Beitrag helfen können, mehr Musik zu produzieren. Im Gegenzug lässt Annika ihre Fans an ihrer kreativen Reise im Garden of Creation teilhaben und die Abonnenten erhalten Zugang zu exklusiver Musik. Mit dem Start des Dienstes bekam Annika einen unerwarteten kreativen Schub und schrieb viele, viele Songs. Diese und andere Songs werden auf einem Album mit dem Titel Cats & Coffee Cups veröffentlicht, einem rein akustischen Album (nur Stimme und Gitarre), an dem Annika derzeit mit Brady Jo arbeitet. Die Veröffentlichung ist für Anfang 2024 geplant.
