Coffee And Banana Bread

Sometimes there are
Clouds in my head
And my heart feels
As heavy as lead
I'm looking for solace
Some kind of peace
A little comfort
To put me at ease
I'm taking a breath
I'm humming a tune
Hoping today
Will be over soon
Then I remember
There's banana bread
I cut off a slice, it's just what I need
Together with coffee
Things can't be all that bad
As long as there's coffee,
As long as there's coffee
Coffee and banana bread
It's one of these days
Where nothing went right
I couldn't win
No matter how hard I tried
Life is a joker
Playing roulette
Or maybe poker
You never know what you get
I'm sitting here
Soothing my nerves
Taking a break
From this crazy world
Tomorrow will be
Another day
For now I'm enjoying each bite
Knowing I'll be alright
Things can't be all that bad
As long as there's coffee,
As long as there's coffee
Coffee and banana bread
I just love banana bread, it's as simple as that. So I wrote a song about it. I had the chorus in my ear for quite some time but only found the story in May 2024. It's basically about a day when everything goes wrong. But it's not just about having a bad day and finding comfort in food. It's about accepting a bad day as a bad day and not as a bad life and finding beauty on that bad day. It can be banana bread or something entirely different, like listening to music, reading a book, taking a walk or cuddling your pet. But let's face it - banana bread is nice. It's yummy. It's the best! :-)
