Breathing

I’m breathing
And I’m feeling who I am
I’m breathing
I’m feeling my journey begin

I’m breathing
I’m breathing down to my feet
I’m breathing
And I’m becoming a tree

I’m growing roots to ground me
(I’m grounding myself)
I’m growing roots to ground me
(I’m grounding myself )

And flowers are growing in my soul
(Flowers are growing)
I make sure they are blooming to make me feel whole
(Flowers are growing )

I’m humming
I’m feeling my body vibrate
I’m humming
I'm feeling each bone of my face

I’m feeling the roots that hold me
(I’m grounding myself)
I’m feeling the roots that hold me
(I’m grounding myself)

There is a garden in my heart
(Flowers are growing)
And I am the gardener of my own heart
(Flowers are growing)
I’m singing
I’m feeling my soul unfold
I’m singing
I’m feeling my heart explode

There are the roots that hold me
(I’m grounding myself)
There are the roots that hold me
(I’m grounding myself)

My garden is blooming, shining bright
(Flowers are blooming)
And I feel like I'm glowing from the inside
(Flowers are blooming)

I'm breathing
I'm still breathing
I'm always breathing

This song sort of happened while I was doing my breathing and vocal exercises. I realised that the breathing exercises weren't just exercises, it was a meditation in a way. I don't usually meditate, but this is probably close to what a meditation feels like. It's when you become aware of yourself, your muscles, the way you stand on the floor - all so important when you're singing. And when you feel yourself that way, magic things can happen and you realise that you are whole all by yourself and that true validation comes from within - and that it's your responsibility to keep it that way. This song is also a kind of answer to Everywhere and Nowhere. My home is actually not a place you can find on a map - I'm at home when I'm singing. It's where I find myself. And although this is an important milestone, I'm not there yet - there's still a lot to learn! As I say at the beginning of the song - “I'm feeling my journey begin.“
