It’s a summer morning by the sea
And the sun meets the horizon
The day begins so silently
And I wonder what I’ll be findin’
In the distance you can hear the waves
And the cries of some sea birds
I can feel the salt on my face
Time stands still in this peaceful world
Sun rays are reflected by the sea
And the grains of sand are sparkling
This is nature wild and free
And the waves they splash so calmly
And a summer breeze carries my thoughts
Makes them sail across the ocean
Will they reach another shore
Will they bring luck where they're going
The waves are dancing around my feet
In the steady rhythm of the sea
The wind sounds like a melody
And the birds join in in harmony
I hope this place will last
Now and forever
That dream is not yet lost
We’re all in this together
As each day begins
I wrote this song in 1996 because I just love the sea and the beach! It's as simple as that. When I was little, I spent countless summers at the North Sea with my family and have very fond memories of those holidays. To this day I love being at the beach. The sea has something very soothing for me. So, it's maybe not surprising that the sea is a recurring theme in my songs. But that's not all. This song is about a place as nature preserved it. Will we be able to keep such places? Or will they be destroyed? What can we do ourselves to keep them?
J'ai écrit cette chanson en 1996, parce que j'adore la mer et la plage! C'est aussi simple que ça. Petite fille, j'ai passé de nombreux étés à la mer du Nord avec ma famille et je garde des très bons souvenirs de ces vacances. A ce jour j'aime bien passer des journées à la plage. C'est la mer qui m'apaise. Du coup ce n'est peut-être pas étonnant que la mer est un thème récurrent de mes chansons. Mais ce n'est pas tout. Cette chanson traite d'un lieu préservé par la nature. Sera-t-on capable de garder des lieux pareils? Ou seront-ils détruits? Que pouvons-nous faire nous-mêmes pour les garder?
Ich habe dieses Lied 1996 geschrieben, weil ich das Meer und den Strand liebe! Es gibt keinen anderen Grund. Als ich klein war, habe ich fast jeden Sommer mit meiner Familie an der Nordsee verbracht und habe an diese Urlaube wunderbare Erinnerungen. Auch heute noch liebe ich es, am Strand zu sein. Das Meer hat eine beruhigende Wirkung auf mich. Von daher ist es vielleicht nicht verwunderlich, dass das Meer öfters in meinen Liedern vorkommt. Aber das ist nicht alles. Dieses Lied handelt von einem naturbelassenen Ort. Werden wir solche Orte beibehalten können? Oder werden sie zertsört? Was können wir selbst tun, um sie zu erhalten?
