The Eagle Flies Alone est une chanson spéciale pour moi est très personelle. Elle a été écrite pour tous ceux qui sont un peu différents et du coup sont harcelés. Elle a été écrite pour les rappeler que tout le monde a un talent caché, et ceux qui semblent différents encore plus. La chanson a été inspirée par le film allemand "Au-delà du silence".
Le film traite d'une fille appelée Lara qui est différente. Ses parents sont sourds et du coup la famille se parle en langue de signes. Lara, elle, n'est pas sourde et a un talent extraordinaire pour la musique - un monde dans lequel ses parents ne peuvent pas la suivre. Parce qu'elle est si différente, elle est harcelée. Son professeur de musique, cependant, reconnaît son talent remarquable. Il devient son mentor et l'encourage de poursuivre son voyage musical. A un moment donné durant le film, il se trouve qu'elle est la seule personne qui n'est pas invité à la fête d'anniversaire d'un camarade de classe. En ce moment son professeur lui dit: "Ne sois pas triste, Lara. Tu vois, les corbeaux volent dans les troupeaux, par contre l'aigle, il vole tout seul!" - en lui disant que peut-être elle différente que les autres mais qu'elle les laissera si elle maîtrise son talent et va deployer ses ailes d'aigle. En entendant cette phrase, je savais que je devais écrire une chanson. Autant que je m'en souvienne je me suis toujours senti différente. Ayant été victime d'harcèlement moi-même à l'école et ayant trouvé un refuge dans la musique, c'était aussi mon histoire.
La chanson s'adresse aux filles car en écrivant je pensais à Lara et moi-même, mais cela ne veut pas dire que la chanson ne s'adresse pas aux garçons, des enfants non-binaires ou transsexuels. Elle est vraie pour tous et toutes qui sont différent(e)s. Il est temps de déployer nos ailes!
The Eagle Flies Alone is a special song for me and a very personal one as well. It has been written for those who are different and are being bullied because of it. It has been written to remind them that everyone has a special talent and those who appear to be different even more so. This song was inspired by the German movie „Beyond Silence“.
The movie is about a girl called Lara, who is different from everyone. Her parents are deaf and the family is communicating with each other in sign language. Lara herself can hear and has an extraordinary talent for music – a world into which her parents cannot follow. Because she is so different, she is being bullied. Her music teacher, however, sees her remarkable talent. He becomes her mentor and encourages her to continue her musical journey. At one point in the movie, it turns out that Lara is the only one who is not invited to her classmate's birthday party. At this point, her music teacher tells her: "Don't be sad, Lara. You know, ravens fly in flocks, but the eagle flies alone." - meaning that she may be different than the others but will just leave them all behind if she keeps developing her talent and spreads her eagle's wings. When I heard that sentence I knew I had to write about it. As far as I remember I have felt different all my life and having been bullied myself in school and having found a refuge in music, this was also my story.
The song is addressed at a girl since I was thinking of Lara and myself while writing - but it doesn't mean that this is not true for boys, non-binary or transgender children in the same way. It is true for everyone who feels different. It is time to spread our eagle's wings!
The Eagle Flies Alone ist ein besonderes und ein sehr persönliches Lied. Es wurde für alle geschrieben, die ein bisschen anders sind und deswegen gemobbt werden. Er wurde geschrieben, um sie daran zu erinnern, dass jeder ein ganz besonderes Talent hat, und die, die anders erscheinen, um so mehr! Inspiriert wurde das Lied von dem Film Jenseits der Stille.
In dem Film geht es um ein Mädchen namens Lara, die anders als alle anderen ist. Ihre Eltern sind gehörlos, weswegen sie sich in Gebärdensprache unterhalten. Lara selbst ist nicht gehörlos und hat ein außerordentliches Talent für Musik - eine Welt, in die ihre Eltern ihr nicht folgen können. Weil Lara anders ist, wird sie gemobbt. Ihr Musikleher erkennt jedoch ihr bemerkenswertes Talent. Er wird zu ihrem Mentor und unterstützt sie dabei, ihre musikalische Reise fortzusetzen. An einem Punkt im Film stellt sich heraus, dass Lara als Einzige nicht zu der Geburtstagsfeier eines Klassenkameraden eingeladen ist. In diesem Moment sagt ihr Musiklehrer zu ihr: "Nicht traurig sein, Lara. Raben fliegen in Schwärmen, der Adler aber fliegt allein." - damit will er ihr sagen, dass sie vielleicht anders ist aber die anderen weit hinter sich lassen wird, wenn sie ihr Talent wie die Flügel eines Adlers entfaltet. Als ich diesen Satz gehört habe, wusste ich, dass ich ein Lied schreiben musste. So lange ich mich erinnern kann, habe ich mich immer anders gefühlt. Da ich selbst in der Schule gemobbt wurde und in der Musik meinen Zufluchtsort gefunden habe, war dies auch meine Geschichte.
Das Lied richtet sich zwar an ein Mädchen, da ich beim Schreiben an Lara und an mich selbst gedacht habe. Das heißt natürlich nicht, dass das nicht auch im selben Maße für Jungs, non-binary oder transsexuelle Kinder gilt. Es richtet sich an alle, die sich anders fühlen. Es ist Zeit, unsere Flügel auszubreiten!
