When Was The Last Time is a song I wrote in the summer of 2020 when everything started to become quite overwhelming and I needed a break, especially from social media and trying to catch up with everything. I had spent so much time there I began wondering when I had last done something that really mattered to me like really listening to some music, writing a letter to a friend, or even just being still for a moment and breathe.
On this mini EP, you'll hear the song in three versions which are all very different from one another.
The pop-rock version was arranged and mixed by Nathan Peter Illes, the chamberfolk version came to life with the amazing, heavenly cello arrangement by Alison Reynolds. And just for the fun of it I also recorded an unplugged version which I recorded using just one mic. I think it is interesting as you can compare the raw version to the produced versions and see how the song took shape.

When Was The Last Time est une chanson que j'ai écrite durant l'été en 2020 quand ma vie avait commencé à devenir écrasante et j'avais besoin d'une pause; surtout des reseaux sociaux et d'essayer de tout rattraper. J'y avais passé tellement de temps que je me suis demandé quand c'était la dernière fois que j'avais fait quelque chose qui était vraiment important pour moi comme vraiment écouter la musique, lire ou même respirer.
Sur ce Mini EP tu peux écouter la chanson en trois versions qui sont trés différentes de l'une de l'autre.
La version pop-rock a été arrangé et mixé par Nathan Peter Illes, la version chamberfolk a pris vie avec l'arrangement merveilleux, voire celeste, arrangement de violoncelle par Alison Reynolds. Enfin et surtout il y a la version unplugged que j'ai enrégistrée en utilsant un seul micro. Moi, je pense que c'est intéressant car cela permet de comparer la version brute aux versions pop rock et chamberfolk pour voir comment la chanson a pris forme.

When Was The Last Time ist ein Lied, das ich im Sommer 2020 geschrieben habe, als mir alles zu viel wurde und ich eine Pause von den sozialen Medien brauchte, und davon mit allem Schritt halten zu müssen. Ich hatte dort so viel Zeit verbracht, dass ich begann, mich zu fragen, wann ich das letzte Mal etwas gemacht hatte, was mir mirklich wichtig war - z.B. Musik richtig zu hören, ein Buch zu lesen oder einfach nur zu atmen.
Auf dieser Mini EP ist das Lied in drei Versionen zu hören, die alle sehr unterschiedlich zueinander sind.
Die Pop-Rock Version ist von Nathan Peter Illes arrangiert und abgemischt worden. Die Chamberfolk Version ist mit dem atemberaubenden Cello Arrangement von Alison Reynolds zustande gekommen. Und nur so zum Spaß habe ich auch eine Unplugged-Version mit nur einem Mikrofon eingespielt. Ich finde es interessant, da man die ungeschliffene Version mit den anderen beiden Versionen vergleichen kann. So kann man hören, wie der Song sich verändert hat.
Und wenn Du mich gerne sprechen hören würdest, habe ich auch die Geschichte hinter dem Song aufgenommen, die es ausschließlich auf Bandcamp zu hören gibt.
